Favorites of 2012: resplendent in amateur haiku

Another difficult year to whittle down a long list of excellent music. Like last year, my “top ten” is sacrilegious because it’s a list of twenty. I’m also stealing from the playbook of @justinsnow (of AGB fame). I wanted to write mini-reviews again but had the idea to do it in haiku format. But then I remembered Justin’s reviews are similar. So he’ll get 20% of the royalties.

I listened to a lot of stellar new music this year. Here’s the full list as I noted down each new release. (Oddly in 2011 I listened to 181; this year it was 183). What follows are the bits that sifted to the top, resplendent in amateur haiku.

A late contender / Deep raw crepuscular grooves / On Sähkö no less
